A New MPV Original Documentary coming
Fall 2026.
For eighty years, Patch Craft Hobby Shop served as more than just a store; it was a sanctuary for the tinkerers, the dreamers, and the builders.
As the neon "Open" sign flickers off for good, a generation of former "shop kids" returns to share memories of Estes rockets launched in cornfields and HO-scale empires built in basements.
MPV's New poignant documentary explores how the shift from physical craftsmanship to digital dominance has left a void in the community, capturing a fond, final farewell to a place where we didn't just buy things—we made them.
"Glue, Paint and Growning up" is a soulful look at the closure of an iconic Iowa hobby shop, tracing its history from the 1960s balsa-wood boom to the modern era of the internet. The film weaves together intimate interviews with local modelers, rocketry enthusiasts, and rail fans who found their identity among the kits and glue. It is a celebration of the patience required to build something by hand and a meditation on what is lost when these tactile community hubs disappear.
MPV's New Film is coming your way this Fall.
